i just installed some premier 12'' subs in van, they are 400RMS, and they are being run by one pioneer 800w amp, which gives 360rms.....they are wired to 2 ohms......

after listening to it for a bit.. it dont sound to bad.... but i KNOW that they can get louder

so heres the problem..... when i get to a certain volume, the subs but out.. the amp dont shutoff or nothing.. just the subs cut out, and the volume that they cut on is differnt for every song... seems like the more bass a song has the sooner they cut out.... also.. on the deck, there is a loudness feature.. with this on, the subs cut out ALOT quicker then with it off...i tried without bass boost, and with bass boost.. without the boost they can get louder, but not nearly as much bass....

whats wrong?????

thanks for the help

comeon... cant someone help me... i checked my wiring and everythings good.... its just keeps cutting out..... the amp isnt turning off itself.. just the subs.... almost like a the wires are touching.. but they arent.... any help.. p.l.e.a.s.e

thanks

1) Turn off loudness feature

2) Set amp gains accordingly (there's a tutorial on this forum in the wiring section)

3) Try a ported box (if you don't already have one)

4) if thats not enough, you need a bigger amp because those subs are only seeing half of their rated RMS power

well i was thinking..... i set the gains very good.. so thats good there.. i was going to make another sealed box, one that is the recommended size... and try it out... the amp just powering one of the subs..... think taht would be better???

thanks for the help tommyk90

If you can fit it, i'd try out a ported box for both subs.

he already stated his amp and sub. pioneer's 800 is probably the GM7200M, and his subs are pioneer TS-W306C...durrr
really he stated that ? i dont see it ? ohh wait your just guessing cause your a moron.

. ohh your saying how am i a moron? well lets see first off he said he has PREMIER subs the 306c/dvc is a pioneer sub the premier version of that sub would be the 126c/dvc or maybe he has shallow mount premier subs or maybe some prs subs or even better yet he doesnt have the latest ones out there maybe he has some older premier subs like the 1240c/dvc hmmm but ill just take your stab in the dark over an actual answer from the owner DUH.

and as far as the amp goes you could be right if he has the current model but even he if does he could have theGM7200M or the GM-5200T or GM-520T or an older version.

woah.. some argueing going on.... i got the premier TS-W126C (2), and the GM7200M amp...

my gains are set at as low as they go right now.. and everythings running perfectly... and i also have my LPF on the amp set very low to... everyhting seems to be working great..... its sounds good now without the bass boost, and without that loudness on the deck... everything seems to be working alrite now... but any more pointers i will be willing to try

thanks for the help guys

peace

Those subs come alive in ported boxes and you need more power at least 300rms per sub to get them really moving...

Build a box 3.5-4cubes tuned at 30-34hz with like 50sq inches of port and you'll be set.

ya i know.. i had them in a ported box... it was effing awesome for what they each were getting.. but unforutnately... my dad will not go ported box.. and wont buy another amp.... but for him.. these subs are awesome... so i think i will leave them as is...

i was thinking of getting some new subs.... what are them 3000SPL premiers like.... can they handle their share of power??

The 3000spl are awesome subs!!! they can take good power and they get very loud while sounding very good... they are low end monsters... get them!

ya i was thinking of getting them..... its either 2 3000SPL, 2 12'' Mags, or 2 SS PL-P 12s

in your opinion what would be the most reliable, loudest, and best sounding from the three?

Are you maybe hgave voltage drops? I had three amps in my last truck and when i would turn it up higher, the amps would cut out but not shut off. But when I turned it back down the subs would be normal again. MAybe check that.

you know what... that acually sounds VERY much like whats happenign to me... and it makes sense now.. because i have the gains down so its drawing less current.. and it works better... i should check that... well i got 8AWG for power and ground to my 800w amp... i know that i should be using 4AWG or bigger.. but nothing else was available
