problems with stereo.

Hello, I am trying to upgrade my headunit but have encountered some problems.

Here is my wiring config.

Factory Wiring --> Vehicle to ISO --> ISO to Panasonic --> Panasonic HU

I have only one unused wire, which is a blue&white wire coming out of the HU which I taped over on the end.

First problem is that, I get no sound when playing the Radio.

The antenna works and the HU can scan and pick up local stations, yet I hear nothing.

Secondly, the only sound I do get is when I am playing CD's.

BUT CD's only play when the car isnt running. When the car isnt running, if I push the brake pedal, the sound will cut off. But the display is constantly on until I turn the car off fully. & also, the sound cuts out if the volume is too high.

The Head Unit is have is a Panasonic CQ-RX122W. It is brand new.

I am using a wiring loom to connect this stereo.

& I am a newbie who knows nothing about cars.

If anyone could help, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks

LOL..You should have received a wiring diagram with the HU/specs booklet..read that, and check all your wiring, and you may also try holding the reset button on the HU as well..Read your manual and check your wiring.

Go and buy a Metra wire harness that fits your car (11$ autozone or advanced auto). Also buy some butt connectors and a wire stripper. The metra wire harness will have a diagram that shows where each wire goes it will be color coded. If that fails go to a car audio place.

im using a plug'n'play wiring harness like thisView attachment 26536051

would this be the issue then ?
This may also assist you. Best of luck!

Wiring Harness Color Standards - Knowledge Base

The blue wire with the white stripe is for an amplifier turn on, if you don't have an amplifier you don't need to use it. If you certain that everything is wired ok, try grounding to the chassis instead of using the ground in the wire harness. All that fails, try another deck but it sounds like you have something crossed... (probably the yellow and red wires)

I may also be a blown speaker...

Ive left the blue/white wire disconnected as I dont have an amp. & I just taped the end with electrical tape.

But yes I think it may well be the grounding. I do get sound through CD Player so speakers are algood.

But as it may not be grounded properly, that is why it is disconnecting whenever the aerial antenna is plugged in as it is trying to ground off that.

& is that maybe why it is always stopping as the volume gets higher?
