problems with cd player after install.

Well, I recently did an install for my brother. Im not very good at it, as I fairly warned him...But I did get it all working with one problem: Now the darn thing wont play cds at all...it wont even try to read em. But everything else is working perfectly on the FM radio as far as the bass and everything....

He has a crappy cd player and it seemed old. There werent any places to plug the RCAs for the subs...im still new to this so I dont know how to describe it..but as best I can: There were like 4 rca looking things already connected. Like 4 wires coming out of the cd player with Female rca ends and 4 connected to em..all different colors. I believe they were red grey red grey purple teal...or something like that....ANYWAY...i played around with it a lot and the only way I could get the subs RCA in was to use Y-splitter cables on one of the sets of grey and red, then connect it in with the others. And the other speakers would only play when I had it in on a certain two of the 4 at one time...hope that makes since....

Anyway, the cd player worked fine before i hooked everything up. Now when I push the button it just says "CD" "eject" then it flashes back to the FM radio...and when I push the button to try and eject the cd, it does nothing (there is a cd in it). Its like...it doesnt respond to cds at all. Any Ideas? He is happy with it only playing radio...but I really wanna know for future knowledge and so I can feel like A job has been well done (this is absolutely the only problem is that it wont play cds)

Is there a reset button on the HU? Sounds like disconnecting it from power might have screwed it up...

seems like a bad unit...can u try to switch it out with another?

Ya thats what I was thinking, but It was working fine playing cds before putting amps on it...but no, no extra cd players to try and switch with..
