Hi everyone, I hope this is the proper location for this thread, I'm having a few issues with the install in my car, and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it, so I can enjoy my system, and hopefully do some more work on it.

I spent about 5 grand at a local car audio shop on an install including JL cleansweep, SSI, dynaudio gt242, jl audio hd900.5, jl audio 13.5 sub and custom box, wiring, dynamat.

So first off, I know i paid too much, but I figured I would support a small local installer and let them make some money off of the equip, as i bought it all from them.

My problem is, it sounds terrible. absolutely terrible. The sub sounds great, but the speakers sound like ***. total ***. It sounds completely flat. No imaging, depth, or midbass at all.

I took it by another installer today, they said I really don't need the JL clean sweep with the stock radio i have (nav unit), because he believes it has a full range (not sure about the terminology here), and he would have done the install without the cleansweep and signal summing interface. He said that all the cleansweep is doing is interfering with the signal somehow, but I couldn't really get a clear answer.

He showed me his Avalanche, which has the same nav unit as I have, but he said mine might not have the full range, since it is an '09 and modeled after the escalade, which has full surround and center channel (as mine does).

Anyway, I just want my speakers to sound good, I don't really care how. If anyone has had a similar experience, or knows how to explain all this, I would be extremely grateful.

My first step is to try to get a clear signal to the speakers so I can hear how they really sound. I would like to keep everything factory if possible.

The Dyn's are in the front, they are in factory location, they have physical crossovers mounted in the doors, the rears are still bose, but they are hooked up to the JL amp as well. I believe the factory amp is still hooked up to the center channel speaker (on the dash) and the two rear speakers in the very back (on the cargo hatch). (which i could care less about, I would have just as soon had them disabled) I hope this answers your question, let me know if you were looking for something else.

No, the whole install was done so sloppily and not the way I wanted it, I don't even want to go back. For example, the cleansweep was just thrown in under the center console, not even mounted, the bass knob was not mounted where I requested, and the tweeters for the dyns were mounted into the factory panels, instead of in the factory location, which they told me would be no problem. I'm just so upset with how poor of a job they did, I don't even want to go back. I just don't think they're competent enough to fix it in the first place, which is all I care about doing right now.

I did call him and tell him it didnt sound right, and his reply was that it sounded fine when it left the shop, and that he was too busy today, but I should bring it by so he can change the frequency on the amp, which I don't really think is the problem..

I'm not sure that tuning it is the problem, I mean it sounds so bad, you wouldn't believe it. Just completely flat, completely. I really just want to rip the cleansweep out of there, and see what it sounds like with just the factory radio off the amp, and go from there. I listened to 3 systems with focal drivers in the last few days, and my system doesn't even sound close. Unless the dynaudios are just terrible speakers, there has to be something else wrong. I wish you guys could hear it, it's embarrassing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

IMO before you mess with anything you should take it back and explain to the manager of the shop what your problems are. IF they won't agree to fix it for free then you should call JL and let them know about how the shop treated you and see if there is another authorized dealer in your area that could look over the install. that way you won't be voiding any warrenty.

i'll do some searching and see if i can find you a reputable shop in your area. i know lots of ppls in diff areas.
