Problems installing Kicker DCVR12 in Chevy Beretta trunk

Help, my son bought enclosed Kicker subs (DCVR12) for his '95 Chevy Beretta and they are just a bit too big to fit into the trunk. There's enough space for them to sit in there, just having a problem getting them in. We're about 2 inches too big in all directions. We removed the back seat, no luck. Can we modify the box without affecting the subs? Any help/comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

If it's a prefabricated box, which I'm assuming it is, there's no way to take enough material off to make it fit, you'd have to disassemble the box and cut the sides down. Those boxes are glued, screwed, and caulked together so you're better off buying or building another box.
