Problems...Blowing speakers

Yea man Turn your gains down. Even if your gains (high pass filter) are set high your subs may move more and create "more" sound however, the voice coils will be under more stress and wont have time too cool off. thus the burning smell
were you just implying that the gain is the same thing as a high pass filter? better do some more research before you post again.

My friend is a car audio installer, Im new and learning. ...And yes I have some money and a hook up at a local shop (70% off retail helps). The problem i guess i didnt explain the problem completely. The wall is made of two boxes. IE one on top one on bottom. the top one has never blown a sub, the bottom has blown all four. The boxes are the same. we switched the amps to test and see if it was one of them. bottom still blew. Hopefully we will get the van done by spring of next year. will post pics of the jeep set up after i get up. Just need help. Sorry if i dont sound real to people but i wouldnt have posted if i didnt need help.

Also I moved subs from the top, that were fine for about 2 months, to the bottom and they blew as well. I cant think of what could do it. Ideas please..

question his claim all you want. those subs are loud. 05 or 06 model? L7's aren't a wall subs if you want ohave the wall get the x's. if your running 05's get the 06's and see fi you have the same problem. btw where at in kansas? forget manhattan there is 2 shows this weekend in kc one saturday night one sunday all day. pm me for more info. i can help more there.
he is claiming to do a wall with two x's for comp or something along those lines. if he cant even figure out what he is doing, then i highly doubt he is going to take on a full on SPL project.

Ok, this is my problem. Im running four 12" L7 kickers in a wall behind the 2nd seats in my jeep grand cherokee. They hit real hard , 157 was the best mark. but after short runs of normal music or otherwise the subs get hot and you get the burnt plastic smell.they are ran by a pair of orion 2500ds. could the problem be too much power? Ive blown 4 so far. Im thinking about new subs, not quite sure what to get though. Solo Xs maybe. The thing is this is my daily driver I want it to be loud and sound good. Currently building an spl car with two solo x 18s. just stuck on this L7 thing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Set your gains properly or have someone do it for you;)

thank you thats what i was figuring id have to do. if you would like pictures of my jeep for reference or want to see it come to Pittsburg. As for the future project, its about learning. Doing it in a van. Just called kicker to get the specs on a box for two solo x 18s. 30 cu. ft box for both 4 inches thick on alll sides and brace the hell out of it. Going to run the subs with 4 crossfire VR4000ds. I dont claim to know much or anything really for that matter. Just saying what i have and smart enough to ask for help when i need it. Dont see why id make it up. Being cool on an internet forum is like winning the special olympics. You may win gold but in the end you are still retarded.
