well one of my subs took a dump on me:crying: so now i'm stuck with 1 12'' kfc-w3005. i know the rms wattage requires 350 to run. my amp puts out 460 rms @ 4 ohm. my subwoofer has a single voice coil @ 4 ohm as well. will bridging this amp to the one subwoofer blow it up?i've thought about briding it and turning the gain down all the way and working it up to the point where it won't distort. a newb question indeed...

You can do exactly that, friend. Bridge the amp and then set the gains accordingto the method very clearly outlined in the stickied gain setting tutorial found here.

Just because your am is capable of producing 460 watts when bridged mono does not mean you have to use all of that output. Headroom can be a good thing in strong transients in whatever you're listening to. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

Listen to this man!

I powered a pair of stock Ford 5x7's off of a Precision Power PCX2200. That's about 400rmsx2 at 4 ohms. I turned down the gain... and didn't blow them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Then when they served their purpose, I lit them on fire with gasoline. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

thanks for the advice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif i hooked up the single sub and tuned the gain down a bit and it sounds *decent* enough until i get ahold of the replacements i'm getting. i appreciate it!
