no I don't want another arguement, just what are your personal feelings on the priviligaes(sp) that inmates get and do or don't change them. just opinions, no argueing. please.

prisoners actually got it pretty good.. they shouldnt have any privelages at all.. it should be very strict so people will learn their lesson and not actually want t go back.would you rather be a person livin in a sheltor, or a prisoner?? i choose prison, dont have really much to worry about , except for droppin the soap..you get food, cable tv, basketball, weights and more.. i think they should just throw them in a sewage drain for about a month, or send them to OZ,,, my fav tv show

yea OZ is pretty cool show.

just for argeument, you don't think that they should try to rehabilitize them at all. again not neccesarily my opinion just so i can get a better, BIGGer picture

The only thing I feel they should be provided with, besides food, water, shelter, all the essentials, is an education. Thats the only thing I feel they should be provided with if desired.

are you saying an education as in like a ged or just have material available to them. in some prisons you can leave with a degree. thumbs up or down.

People in prison should be given just the bare essentials for life + a HS education. Thats all, no cable tv (many have sattelite), no game rooms, no conjugal visits.

They broke the law, and should be punished.

Mind you I also believe that a life sentence should be as long as you live (not the 20-25 years that it is now). If you are convicted of a crime so horible that you get life in prison, there should be no second chances.

The most successful way to rehabilitate a convict with a high degree of success is to make prison sentences much harsher and much shorter. This gets the point across that jail isn't the place to be and gets them out before they become educated by the lifers.

Take Singapore. Six whacks with the bamboo cane for vandalism. It's over in a minute. Vandalism is nearly non existant.

I think education is good.But some form of substance abuse classess are definatly a need.Most peoples crime around here revolve around drug use.

Lol I see both sides...I say give them the bare minimum...they broke the law and should pay the price...but on the other hand I think that an education and recreation is good for felons...I cant choose a side

Well besides the recreation i dont think there is a side. Bare minimum to survive and and education is what they should get. I also agree with the guy that posted earlier about harsher shorter sentences...i dont know if i would go as far as singapore type punishments though. I believe a few hours of isolation "being in the hole" should be part of a lot of prisioners regular daily routine DEPENDING ON THE CRIME and 1st offence/repeat offender type stuff. Their "recreation" should be social interaction with other prisioners in an education type setting so they can actually be rehabilitated. They deffinatly should not be afforded the priviledges of cable or satalite tv and game rooms. It would be a good idea for them to have say around 2 hours per day or like 8 hours per week to watch news type programs(local new programs or CNN) so they are infored about the world around them and how it changes. This could possibly be part of their education program. huge weight training facilities are out of the question also but i dont think its a bad idea for these people to have a place to stay in proper physical condition. Basicly a plain open area for running and basic things.

im tired of angry mofos that arent happy with their life trying to take it out on people in prison. prisoners get no benifits, stop saying that, that's more annoying than people saying sad**** hussein is a mad man. in both cases its media propaganda that you are repeating, you repeat it with no examples to back it up......most people arent in prison for life, most are in for a few years and will get out soon. so its a better idea to educate them and keep them busy in prison instead of making them angry so that when they get out they take it out on people. prison is a punish ment , why dont you spend the next 5 years of your life in prison and tell me how great the experience was fools. they have tv in jails because keeping prisoners busy reduces crime in jail. *** visits keep down rapes...unless you are one of them angr y people who say let them get rapped for possessing drugs. why dont some of you get some facts before you go claiming prison is like summer camp.

i would rather have an uneducated criminal come out educated and get a job instead of coming out uneducated and committing crimes. and most people dont even actually care about the crimes, they just want to ***** about their tax dollars paying for the criminal justice system, yet you never hear these same people ***** about repubican or democrat convention parties, politician diverting tax money to their buddies, bush spending billions on a personal war. get your priorities straight.

Nice self contradiction there smart guy. Exactly, it's a punishment, why should prisoners get more and have more opportunities than those who can't actually afford it? I said all prisoners should receive is a minimal high school education, thats it. No TV's, none of that other shit, let them sit in their cells and dwell on what they did, maybe they won't do it again if they didn't have all the recources they have in prison.

county prisions are worse than the other prisions. My uncle is in there awaiting transfer for vehicular manslauter. He deserves all the time he's gonna get and more. I really will miss him as I haven't seen him sence like august, but he needs to be there. Now when he is transfered he will be able to take college courses and as he said "prahaps better myself so that I can become a use to society." I think he's gonna take college courses and actually become a major use to society, get a real job, a real home and kick his alcohol abuse.
