To those of you who work at car audio shops......

are warranties the first priority in the install bay?

I ask because I took my car up to a local shop about 2 days ago.....and it's still not done. I was the first person there, so it should have been done by now. The salesperson didn't say anything..........but I met with an installer and he told me it was because all the people were there for warranty issues. The parking lots was JAM packed....at every location they have that I visited.

It seems kind of messed up, although I understand why, that if I bring my car in at 9a.m., and 5 people come between between 9:30 and 10......they go in first because they are under warranty. I guess that's how it should be though.

first come first serve would make the most sense.. If you have a warranty issue come in make an appointment.. Otherwise.. It would go down like this.. Oh i have a warranty issue with my ten dollar speakers.. ok they kick the car in the install bay out bring in the warranty.. then a guy comes in oh i have a warranty issue for my $100 sub.. so would he be more important then both the people ahead of him..?

No

Kind of depends.

Are you a new customer with a longer build? We would work in the warrenty stuff first or as we worked on yours. But we only see warrenty stuff every now and then.

This time of year there are lots of Deck installs, we do them and then back on to the longer builds. But we do let the Customer know that thers will take X days and we put some slop in that number.

PS I made it into someone sig. So cool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I went to Car Tunes Stereo in Westland, MI.

I've been, as well as my family, customers of Car Tunes for atleast 10 years. They are the one of the few places that sells JL Audio. I buy 99% of my stuff offline, except JL subs, and I get everything installed there. And FOR ONCE, they offered the best price on installation. I wasn't getting much done, just a sub/amp hooked up to a factory radio, a toggle swtich to turn the amp on and off, and a alarm/remote start. Only "extra" stuff they had to do was disconnect the wiring to run new stuff. That was in my magnum......I'm debating if I want to take my charger up there. Perhaps I will do the amp install myself, and just have them do the alarm.

As far as appointments, they told me it was first come, first serve. So I brought my car in at 9am. I guess this is the stuff that motivates folks who have the time to just do it themselves. But its SOOO COLD, lol.
