Preventing water from damaging speakers

I have a set of MTX components and after about a month of use one of the midbass speakers blew. I thought it just might of been a bad set so I returned them for another set, although the same thing happened again with the new set within a few weeks as well. I came up with a couple of solutions as to why this has happened and they are due to: Head unit power(not amped), unlevel baffle, or water damaged. I dont think its due to the headunit power because the speakers are rated at 90 watts, while the headunit was only delivering 18 watts. I think the problem is either due to an unlevel baffle or water damage, so how would I go about solving both of these problems? and is water even one of the culprits? I dont have a problem with water damaging the stock speakers.

lol then how does water have anything to do with it?
I thought water or moisture might of built up in the door panel from some time before.

If water was the cause, would of the speakers blown the very first time they were exposed to water or would it happen after several times of getting wet?
