Pretty Dumb Wiring Question

are they the same speakers fron and rear??

personally I would run the fronts off 1 channel and rears off the other. Then you can use the Left/Right balance which will actually be your fader front to rear.

Most people dont like doing that, but I used to run 2 comp sets like that back in the day

So on stereo songs (not mono), it would be either front or back on, not left or right......thats gay.

yes if your speaker are both 4 ohm speakers.
so that could explain why my speakers were failing? because they were really getting 2 ohms, thus making my amp put out 300w instead of 150. Yikes.

JL Audio TR650 CXI in the front (100w pair)

JL Audio TR690 TXI in the rear (120w pair)

wtf was I thinking? smh.

ok, i blew one speaker in the front and one in the rear, so would my next and best step be to get a new front stage where each speaker can handle 100w RMS? then run the rear 6x9's off the deck?

Well in theory...................if you were puttin out a full 300w output...that would be to 2 speakers, in actuality giving 150 to each. And that is if (really big if) you are getting a full 300w at 2 ohms.

understood and I'm sure I wasn't giving 300, maybe 200-250 max, but even then, the speakers are only rated 50w (front) and 60w (rear) for each speaker.

Yeah....you blew em. Get all new (used) speakers and do it again, just get better speakers than JL. There are tons of comps in here (classifieds) that can take 120-150. Even then, turn your gains down a lil.

can you recommend a set? I don't want to spend more than $150 and I'll definitely turn my gains down more. I've heard good things about CDT.

right but, having different speakers with diff power handling it the best solution to get your stage better by fading the rear

Obviously a 4 channel amp is better, or just amping the fronts

Get a decent set of components for the front and run off the amp and deck power whatever you want in the rear fill

Hmm, once my posting shows up if it does, I might take back the Polks and Infinities because they are rated at 2 and 2.7ohm speakers, which would mess with your two 4ohm into one channel setup. lol. Im going to sleep.
