Premier 860 - External Speaker?

i just got my pioneer deh-p860 and it came with a little speaker type thing, about 1/2 an inch across and connected to a cord with a headphone size plug in on the other end. i cant find any info about this thing and want to know what it is. does anyone know or use this? thanks.

I believe thats actually a microphone that the H/U uses to autoconfigure itself or something

That is actually a device to detect the road noise while driving, so according to how you set it up, it is supposed to automatically increase the volume as the ride gets noisier.

That device is built into the HU, and you can turn it on and off if you wish.

The afforementioned microphone included w/ the hu is for auto eq and auto time alignment. It would be almost impossible to keep it plugged in all of the time.
