Prefab VS Custom Box

I have a 12" Alpine Type R SWR-12D4 in a prefab ported box now. If I built a custom ported one to it's specifications, how much louder or better would it be?

It's hard to say but enclosures make a big difference in sound and performance.

Depends if you like building boxes or not.if you give the sub more space and proper port,it should sound better.how much louder?not sure.

It might not sound louder. Your prefab might be tuned pretty high and get loud but probably sounds pretty bad.

usually pre fabs are around 45+ hz?

or maybe higher.

if u get a custom box built for that sub with proper air space it will sound 100% better than a prefab. will get much lower and slam harder depending on the tuning of the box
