I don't think it will work personally. Most people looking to buy a prefab are uneducated in car audio to begin with and will go with the best deal they can find. So unless, your price is at ~75 shipped, you will lose out on the majority of that market. For the people who are educated, they may be willing to pay more, but they are also way less likely to even consider the idea of using a prefab which severely limits that market to begin with.

I think there is a market for what you are talking about, the prefab market is much larger than people think, however i do agree with what was posted earlier about using distributors and/or trying to establish a network of dealers, the price margins will be on the small side for enclosures, so typically volume is the key, good models to look at is Audio Enhancers , OBCON , and Atrend ( not the designs, where or how there made, but there business models) all three have been successful in that part of the industry for a long time.

As far as price point a typical Audio Enhancers ported driver specific enclosure will retail for around $100 - $130 with carpet and terminals and are made in TN

I hope it works out for him....I am glad enclosure income doesn't have to feed my family cause in the past month fingernails would have been all we had to eat...lol......this business is up and down too much...at least in my area it is.....good luck sir

If people that dont understand the sub/box idea are looking for a better the "prefab" they are going to go probox or fatbox. if they do get it they are going to go custom.
