An anthropologist heads a rescue party into the South American jungle to find a missing film team making a documentary on cannibal tribes, but can only return with their footage...which reveals their crueler intentions.
Deodato used the "Blair Witch" filming style and "found footage" motif about 20 years before The Blair Witch Project was released.
When did this movie come out?

I think it was made in 1979 and released in 1980. It's a cult classic. Can't believe you guys have never heard of it...
Well, it is well within my age range but as I said, I don't lean towards the horror genre so I am not surprised I have not heard of it...looks perty nasty. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hide.gif.2d479cfd917eedfe201353b91522ceab.gif

There was actually an entire sub-genre of these italian cannibal movies in the early 80's. They went nuts over cannibals & zombies for some reason.

- Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust is probably the most infamous cannibal movie from the era.

- Fulci's Zombie (an unofficial sequel to Romero's Dawn Of The Dead) is probably the most infamous zombie movie from the era.

Just watched it. They got what was coming to them. I think the first mistake they made was when they ***** that girl from the tree tribe. And did the film crew put the girl on the pole? I found it amusing that they beat them with sticks before they beheaded them, maybe to tenderize the meat before they ate it?

The part where they buried the newborn in mud and then beat the girl over the head was pretty fucked up. Which parts were actually real?

None were, the Italian government seized the film after it showed in Milan. They then proceeded to lock up the director. He had to prove the girl on the stake was still alive, he did and was then freed. The girl was sitting on a bicycle seat, and had a piece of balsa wood in her mouth.....

The nature footage is real...as in, all of the animal deaths.

Not a bad movie for being 30 years old, foreign and completely unknown to you, huh?

If you guys want to see a real life horror movie check out "The Girl Next Door"(2007). I must warn you it is disturbing.

Yeah it was better than I was expecting. I bet that turtle was good. What was that white shit that the girls drank and spit back in the cup and made the guys drink?

It's some sort of alcoholic or hallucinogenic drink that tribal people make. They chew up some sort of fruit/root/treebark, and the chemicals contained within mix with saliva to create some type of drug. I've seen it on the Discovery channel, but I don't remember exactly what the hell it is.

It's drank, holmes, and it fucks people up. That's all I know...

lol, I hope your kidding
Why would I be kidding?

I'm sure their own spit would work fine, but being that they're out hunting & shit all day, I guess they see fit to make the women chew the shit up. Maybe it tastes bad or something. Your guess is as good as mine...
