the owner of a local shop that i frequent has a PPI deq-230 on hand, it was kinda used, never installed in a car.

its a third octave, 30 band EQ. i was wanting an EQ to use on my components (i have no desire to run one on my sub), i was just wondering about it, because i can't find any useful info on it (like a decent review), and also, i dont know much about PPI as a company.

can anyone help me out?

also, he is wanting about $300 for it. i saw it on some online sites for $500 new, so i figured $300 for slightly used is good, right?

I'm running one in my T-Bird at the moment.

Very rock solid and reliable.

Not only does the DEQ-230 have 30 bands of Equalization, it also has a detachable face plate, meaning that by way of a standard CAT5E Ethernet cable, you can tune from virtually anywhere in or arround your car.

I have been quite happy with mine, and PPI has an excellent reputation behind them.

You could probably find one for a little less if you looked arround, however, $300 isn't entirely a bad price.

take it easy.

thanks for the reply zane, i appreciate it.

i was wondering though, have you ever tried a similar EQ made by audio control?

they seem to have a good selection of EQ's also, but the only place i can audio control from locally is run by a bunch of a-holes. i would like to buy whats best for the money, i can spend $500 if i have to, but ONLY if i have to.

i do like the fact that the deq-230 has controls you can undock.

sorry for being a pain, i just want to make sure i buy the right product the first time.

also, i'm not much of an internet shopper, i like to buy things locally, thats just the way i am.

I got one off eBay for $180 - and it was new in the box too, but I think was pure luck ... I just happened to stumble across it in the closing minutes of the auction. Was in the same situation as you because I couldn't find any reviews either ... but we'll see how it works out when I get it installed.

oh crap, forgot about this thread. i'm not going with the ppi deq 230, as nice as a unit it is, i fell in love with the audiocontrol dqt, its the same as the ppi, but digital, and it also has memory settings, so i can set the EQ for different types of music and save it, i thought that was cool. i believe it also has a line driver.

thats for the help guys.

quick update: i got the unit today, and man is it sweet (not that the ppi deq 230 wasn't), it was confusing looking at first glance, but the guys at the shop helped me out with it. i'm going to have fun this weekend setting that sucker up. i also found out that you can adjust the left and right boost/cut individually, i thought that was quite cool.
