PPI pdx 10k ???

Ok right 2 it

Current setup :

300 amp externally regulated alt 3 runs of 00 ofc big 3 in 00

4 xs 3100 with a 50 farad cap (used as a noise filter)

2 ppi bk1800's feeding 2 hdc3 18" subs

2 ppi 900.4's. 1 feeding 2 sets of sq componets the other feeding 4 Neo pro 8"

150 sqft of deadner

All this controlled by a alpine deck and a JBL processor

Ok came across a ppi pdx 10k for 500$ and I could not pass it up cuz he threw in a 100 ft role of 0 guage (blue) ofc... I'm really tryin to figure out if I wanna run it. my electrical is overkill right now but I know the 300 amp alt and 4 3100's won't keep up with the 10 k so my question is with a 600 amp fuse rating and up to 800 amps of draw how much alt do I need. I have a 400 amp alt sitting on the shelf and the external regulator is set up for 2 alts so I have 2 choices I could swap out to the 400 amp and trow in 2 more xs 3100's (that's all the room I have, or add the 400 amp alt to the current set up for a total of 700 amps.. Adding an alt will require me to make a bracket which is no prob as I have access to a machine shop I just don't know if 1 being 300 amp and the other being 400 amp will make a difference to the external regulator (which is set up for 2 alts [expandable if you will]) the guy that builds my external regulators is MIA so any help would be awsome.

My question is has anybody got any expierence with these and how much alt do I need 600 amps 800 amps?? If I go the 10 k route I will prolly go with 4 hdc3 15's

That amp only makes 10k at .5ohm and 15.5v so you wont see but 6.5k on 14.4v

The 600amp fuse rating is for normal install. The 800amp max pull is at .5 and 15.5v

Usually I would try it set up for 4k and check you electrical the bump it up till you find you limit. Then you can choose your next step. If you bump up your voltage those batts wont work.

Ahh got it I just read the owners manual.. I will deffiinatly be running it in 1 ohm so the 2 big questions did I get a good deal for 500$ ?? And will the 400 amp alt keep up so I don't have to spend 4 hrs milling out a bracket??

Yeah ima keep it at 14.4 I just have too much 12v alts and batts layin around. I just bought a 2011 avalanche 4wd and its gonna eventually go into it but for now all my stuff is In My suv so until I build another couple of alts and save some doe up for deadner, and mdf I'm gonna keep it in the SUV for now.. Plus I wanna do a start to finish build log on the avalanche ..

Anybody know if 18" woofer will fit vertical in the bed of an avalanche?? I already have 2 hdc3 18's and would like to get 2 more and run 4 in a blow through .

on the ppi site it says 1.5k. and on sonic its 1.05k.

The -8s will fit. But you'll have to get creative to get them in below the bed line use both alts to

400amp alt and 4 batts will be plenty. Highly doubt you'll see 6kw+ with imp rise...

The PDX 10k is really just an overgrown, high voltage capable, dirty 5k.

IIRC, I got 5k clean @ 1 & 12.8v.

6k clean @ 1 & 14v.

7k clean @ 1 & 16.5v

8.6k dirty @ 1 & 16.5v

Still a good deal for $500 though, IMO.

Coincidence that it looks like the Soundstream XXX 10K painted black and needs 18V to make half rated power?

Either way, OP stole that amp at 500$

That's what it is its made by SOUNDSTREAM says it all over it.

I just could not pass it up 100 ft of 0guage and the amp for 500$ .. I'm gonna put it on the hdc's today they are d2's so I will only be able to go down to 2 ohm or I could try it at .5 ... I'm switching out the alt now .. Only prob is where the hell I'm gonna put it with 4 batts 3 amps and 16cu3 box I have no room unless I mount the amp on the box which I hate to do... We will c

Yeah guy was in a bind. I hated to do him like that but the pawn shops were only offering 200$ for it and the did not even want the 0 guage ofc so he came out alright.. Willing to trade for an ab200.1 or an sq3500.1

Ok got it hooked up ill clamp it at 2 ohm and .5 too see what this sucka will do.. I was kinda excited this morning when I woke up and saw the box on my dresser... I got that "new toy" giddy fealing you get on Xmas eve lol

@ 2ohm it clamped 3400 watts 13.9

@ .5 it clamped 6156 at 13.6

The 400 amp alt keeps up ok I saw a lil voltage drop at .5 but not terrible.

At 2 ohm it is hard to tell the difference between the 10k and the 2 bk1800's they perform about the same at, .5 shizz starts getting real. I found new rattles when I cranked it lol deff need more expandable foam and deadner. That 10k gets those hdc3 18"s movin I'm gonna dial it back a bit and go on a long drive I will have an update when I get back... Ill tell you one thing that pdx 10k looks sinister with its 4 sets of power input, sitting next to the 900.4 it looks like "honey I shrunk the amp" lol.

First time I have had all the same brand gear in the ride (except the subs) ppi outta sponser me lol. If ppi would come out with an 18" woofer that will take some power I would be all ppi but those sq hdc3 18"a are hard to beat for 310$ each.. Come on ppi come off a sponsorship!! Lol
