I just got this component set and I am trying to choose an amp. Would the Phoenix Gold R 5.0:4 or the R 8.0:4 be a better choice? The 5 is rated at 4x 50 w rms @ 4 ohms and the 8 is rated at 4 x 75 w rms @ 4 ohms. How much can these speakers really take? Will I be satisfied if I get the 5?

I've run them on 60 and 120w, and I can tell you that 60w dosent have that "punch" in the midbass. 120w sounds really good, but I think they could take a little more, maybe 150x2. I get no cutout at high volumes for extended periods.

If I were you, get something around 150x2 and turn the gains down if necessary. I'm looking into upgrading to something around that wattage range if I can find whether or not this amp is noisy, or if its just my install. I'm getting alternator whine from it.

Bridge the R 5.0:4 to 150 x 2, and they should scream!!
