Powering CMX's

I just picked up a amp with a little more power for my CMX 265 Kicks. Its a 4 channel Coustic 481QE which does 240rmsx2@4ohm. Now my question, will this set take that kind of power? I am currently running them off of a PG ti600.2(150x2) and there just isnt enough output there for me.

How much power does a passive crossover subtract from the power output of the amp?

My other option is to use my CD7K to go active and supply 60rmsX4.

If you're going to feed your Kicks 240w a side, Puggs, I'd just be real careful with the gain adjustment. I had a set of CMX's a while back (non-Kick version), and they took 210w a side fine....I just had to go really easy on the gain adjustment.

yeah, just watch your gain if you're giving it that much power.

I'm giving mine 150w per side and they get pretty loud. They're as loud as my stock unit.

i set mine to 200 and go up to 250 and they take it pretty easily - with a 80hz HPF

and i heard crossover takes about 15% of the power (not sure how true that is)

Yeah, they will take it fine, just got done sending a set 285 watts a side, and it really woke them up, but like everyone says, becareful on the gains and the low end eq'ing.

Premier, when you ran 285 to the CMX's, was it done passive or active? What were the crossover points set at for this kind of power?

Forgive my ignorance as this is the first true EQ I have ever had. But what frequencies exactly? Below 300hz? I dont really have the lower frequencies adjusted that much, I find they get a bit muddy If I do so I leave them almost flat. I was thinking about changing the x-over slope to 24db @ 80hz for some added protection.
