i need some help setting the gains on my amp..

i have 2 12 w6vs rated at 400 rms and an orion 1200d at 1200 watts at 1 ohm so around 600 each sub

how should i set the gains of the amp? should i set the amps gains according to it giving 600 watts or whatever?

i dont know how to explain it.. but for the formula, should i plug in 1200? so.. sqrt(1200x1)

or set it at 400? or maybe even in the middle at 500?

i dont know how these subs can handle that power

i just want the most output from them without risking any damage or blowing them..

so any help would be greatly appreciated!

work the equation based on the watts you want (800x1) and then use the dmm to get the output the equation dictates. This will result in a cooler running amp, properly powered subs, and lower distortion.
