Powered subwoofers vs Prefabs+amp combos

Hello,

I have a quick question, I am looking to add a little more bass to my commuter.

2003 Corolla

Kenwood KDC-X696

Alpine "E" SPE-6000 6.5's (upfront)

Alpine "E" SPE-6090 6x9 (rear deck)

Shooting for something under $300 installed. I have really modest expectations. I primarily listen to indie with the occasional post rock and ambient track. No rap basically. Prefer sound quality over loudness.

I was considering an Infinty Basslink or MTX 12" Ported Box/Amp combo (TNP112d). Does anyone have any practical experience with these two systems? I am open to recommendations.

Thanks!

The MTX ones sound like garbage. I used to sell them and they are terrible. Idk about the basslink but I assume it can't have much output. Try to find something with 2 12s sealed or something. They are generally pretty inexpensive.

the local shops here do bass packages that usually include 2 12s, a sealed box, an amp, a wiring kit, and installation for 299. See if there is anything like that out there.

I have only heard a hand full of mtx products and they all held up pretty well no complaints. The mtx package should do a great job if you looking to add some bass to your car .

I remember about half a year ago there was some place that sold 2 12" hifonics in a sealed box with a 600wrms amp for like $175 shipped. No idea if that would sound good or not, though
