Powerbass XA3000d too much for 2 L7's?

It is close to rated power and IMO is too much for a pair of L7's. If you are looking at powerbass, a ASA-2000.1D is a better match IMO.
X2,but sometimes it is nice to have an amp with a lil headroom power in it ya know. If ur lookin for 1500-2000wrms at 1 ohm on a budget pm me I have an amp that will work great.

I believe the PB 3000 are slightly overrated.

the powerbass is a great amp. i would pick one up and use them on the 12s with the gain all the way down. plenty of headroom and when you are ready to add 2 more 12s the power will be there without having to buy another amp to run all 4

the L7s can take more power than that as long as you can hear distortion and know how to keep it turned down. otherwise you would wire the subs at their higher ohm load and it will keep the power down that way.

the powerbass 3kw is a great amp. my only complaint about all the 11 i had was that if you screw them directly to the box the caps would fall off the board. as long as the amp is not vibrated that much they are probably my favorite amp of all time.

If I'm running the 3000d at low gain to prevent distortion, will it still have the L7's pounding pretty hard?

The 3000d does 2000x1 at 2ohms and L7's I have are dual 4ohm, so I don't think I can wire them to see the 2 ohms - it's either 4ohm or 1ohm right?

The amp will be in a boat and mounted to an amp board so no issue with the over-vibration.

thanks for the input.

one more thing - if I'm only getting 12.5-13.5 volts, and this amp is a little over-rated, should I expect to get maybe 2500 watts out of it, and then I'll be a little closer to optimal range for the L7's with some good headroom?

I am checking out mostly 1800-2000 watt amps for my subs, but I've found a good deal on the XA3000, so that's why I'm even considering it.

it may be worthwile to wire it at 4 ohms by wiring series/parallel just to keep the current draw down since your on a boat.

if your not as worried about the draw 1 ohm should be just fine. if the gain is all the way down it should still "shake the water around the boat" ......... if thats what you are looking for.

still good though. if you wire the subs down inside the box you can change the wiring at the amp and change it from 4 ohms to 1 ohm very quickly

if the amp is a good deal buy it
