Ok, thanks for the link. The only question I have is, should I just a 50 hz tone at -3db as my tone to use to set the amp?

And my actual question was, I know the volts should be 38.7, saying I'm putting 3000 at .5 ohms, but since my sub will probably only handle 1500-1600, would I used 27.4 volts to set my gains (sqrt of 1500*.5 ohms), to be putting 1500 rms to my sub?

the 3 dB gain only applies to a "linear" system ..... if you are pushing the sub at or above it's max power level, you get something called dynamic compression. Also, the amp doesn't necessarily double it's power if you halve the impedance - especially if it's not rated at that impedance. The other problem is that a sub does not have anywhere near a flat impedance curve, it can vary wildly over a 25-70 Hz freq range. The box also has an effect on the impedance curve.

Ok, well thanks for everybodies input. I've decided not to run my system at .5 ohms, because it's pretty loud the way it is at 2 ohms, so it wouldn't really be that big of a gain. And to oga_yellow, wut do you mean by upskirt pics of the amp? I do have some pictures of it, but how do I imbed the pictures into the post instead of posting a link?

you still liking this amp.....i am thinking of running the xa4000d, but i can get two of these for the same price and i like the way the 4 channels look more.

Yeah, I love this amp. I'm running it at 2 ohms, and it's never got warm, and it's never started to smell one bit. It also powers my Bl just fine with the power it puts out. I would highly recommend this amp to anyone.
