if i were to get a Hifonics BXi 1608D and run it at 1 ohm (claiming 1600rms, most likely round 1400).. to a fibl18 would using current 4 gauge be big enough to carry the power needed? or would getting the bxi2008d claiming around 2000rms be a better choice to run a fibl18 with the 0gauge and all that jazz

If your an audio nut like me you'll be building and adding and getting louder constantly!

Run the 0 gauge for no matter what amp you choose. Gauranteed if you run 4 ga. now you'll be yanking that out and replacing it with 0 later.

But, it's a little bit more expensive... but if you plan on upgrading (like most people do) it's worth the extra money.

I think the 07 and 08 Hifonics Brutus series put out rated, maybe just a bit more. Ali1 benched his 2608d and it was underrated. Psturmer also benched his 2607d's and got rated power. Keep in mind, these are at 14.4 volts. Maxxsonics did a little redesigning on the late 06, 07, and 08's. The Brutus amps with the chrome or black chrome on the 2 sides have been updated to have better efficiency.
