power wire requirements

for a 2200 watt amp, is 4 gauge OFC insufficient to the point of damaging the amp? I ask because my SQ2200.2 died and SQ is telling me that its because of the power wire being too small. My main question is will running 4 gauge damage the amp? i thought it would just not get to its full potential with insufficient amperage cause by power wire thats not thick enough

I wouldnt advise running 4awg but it depends how the install was.

If you were wired at 1ohm, 4awg is fine as long as it was connected to a battery nearby.

If you ran 4awg all the way up front, that's terrible.

If SQ is claiming this after they received it back, then i'm sure they are basing it on low voltage User Error.
