Power wire melted and idk why?

I got a 12in Kicker Solo X powered by a 2011 Hifonics Brutus 1700w amp.

I'm running 0g wire for power and ground. Had the setup in my 2001 grand prix for about a year and 2months. I got my ***** rebuilt in march and ever since have not felt my subwoofer was hitting as hard as it did. About 3 weeks later i look under my hood to make sure my connections are good with the power wire to battery and such. (I looked bcuz out of no where i had a song on and it was POUNDING like before for about 2mins then went back to the half *** pounding.) Then i realize where the power wire connects from the battery to the fuse holder is melted. Not the whole wire just the tip of the wire where it connects to my fuse. U can see it's black and melt and now is melted to the plastic cover over the fuse. Why in the hell is this all a sudden happening? I'm going to replace the wire but am afraid i will get the same results and have to replace the wire again. I'm not using name brand wire just decent 0g. Also the wire is still working not to full power but to keep me bumpin' a little. Since i realized the melting i've just put my sub level negative as it goes and have been listening to metal. Please help me out guys!

sounds like the fuse under your hood was a larger amperage then your wire could handle. Probly a combo of cheap shitty wire and too large of a fuse.

Buy better wire

Here's the thing tho why did it take over a year plus to finally melt the wire? Wouldn't the wire have had melted like 7months or sooner ago? That's what i don't get is why it just happend over a 2week time period all a sudden after i got my ***** re-built.

Maybe someone at the shop had to disconnect your battery and your power cable was left loose

Vibration and time = fail.

When ***** was rebuild could have nothing to do with it, or like someone else suggested the wires were pulled off when it was worked on and not reattached firmly or were loosened on the other end from moving the wire around.

I have seen some shops not disconnect the battery when they work on the vehicle. Work on it long enough with the doors and hood open and the voltage drops creating an amp spike when they turn the vehicle on. Fuse should have popped if the proper rating, if too large the wire melts. Replace fuse holder and melted sections of wire possibly the whole power wire.
