power wire for sub wire?

hey i was bored, so i hooked up 8 ga power wire to my sub (jl 12w1 v2-4) nothin special (beginner sub i know, was givin to me)

and its a sony xplode 800. is it bad to us power wire for sub wiring? it seems to hit lower, and much better bass,(the lows most noticeably) but the amp gets hot quick. i was messin around the first time i hookd it up, and used an old sony xplode (red one) and it blew a fuse on the sub amp.

so is it bad to use 8ga?

Plenty of people use 8gauge for speaker wire. Mainly when dealing with huge amounts of power, for the amp you can probably use like 14-18gauge without a problem.. But no, there's no negative to using 8gauge for speaker wire besides cost, and aesthetics if it bothers you.

Reason the amp is heating up is, well, it's an xplode. Just make sure your running it at a stable ohm load and you'll be okay.

sounds like you wired it incorrectly(too low of load for the amp) nothing to do with the wire itself

8 ga. wire wouldnt make that kind of difference unless the previous wire was very shitty. i used to run 8 ga. for my strokers.

im obsessed with car audio lol ive read on how to wire everrryytthingg

so im pos its not a wiring issue. the only thing ive changed is the wires. and its SVC. and 1 sub. its still bridged, just like i used to have it. so none of those factors should make a difference.

the only other thing is that ive upgraded to the kickerpdk1 or w/e 0 guage wire kit. and there has been a little problem with the alt. but nother story.

8g shouldn't be a problem, my hdc is 8g straight to the amp, amp stays cool and sub plays flawlessly

ya i use 8g as well. wire is wire man. it all works.
