LOL
I need to replace a power supply in a computer. It's an old hp. Can I use a power supply that is rated higher than the one I have now...Ie go from a 120 watt to a 300 watt or whatever? I found the oem part on partstore.com for about 70 and then I found one at circuit city for about 30 that I can go and buy today...

one problem you may run into is form fitting, if its older it may have a AT or ATX plug on it. So you need to check that out. Also it may not bolt up to the stock location, i know my dell wouldnt accept anything but a dell ps
