Power question

Hi all, first post.

I worked in the field for a few years back in the late 90's. Back when bass was all the mattered and having your MECP made you a god among men. Or so you though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I worked for Future Shop's install department and then went on to run 2 other shops. This was some time ago, until I found my career as a software developer. Obviously I have a firm grip on the fundamentals surrounding 12 volt elec. but just as obvious would be that it's been a decade since I've had any practical application. To say I'm out of touch with who's rating their equipment high, low and right on the money would be an understatement.

I decided to put a system in a project of mine (67 mustang) and have settled on 2 Infinity Perfect 10's (10DVQ). That amp(s) I'm considering right now is the MB QUART PAB1200.1D.

What I'm uncertain of is whether or not the 10DVQ's are 400w per voice coil or not. My assumption would be that the DVQ's are 800w where the VQ's are 400w. At least, back when DV's first went mainstream this was the general rule. Some clarification on the issue would be nice since the spec sheet from Infinity shows every sub in the VQ family as 400w RMS / 1600w max.

This question is driven by main question and that is: Will 1200w @ 1ohm be enough or am I going to want to get 2 of them and run them at 800w @ 2 ohm.

I'd love to get away with only one amp, but I'd rather have more power than I need than less power than I want. So anyone with some advice, please chime in. I'd greatly appreciated it. As to the question of why MB QUART? The placement demands an amp of this aesthetic and of all the amps that would work for this install, MB QUART is a personal favorite of mine.

Semi-related question: Is SoundStream still what it was back in the day? By back in the day, I mean the original Tarantula and DaVinci. I ask because the Tarantula TRX series are the only other amps that will fit this install and buying a single Soundstream TRX (1500D/2000D) would be less expensive than 2 MB QUART PAB1200.1D.

1200wrms should be fine between both of them. that will give them 600wrms a piece.

I dig the look of my mb quart amp too. Very classy. no visible wire... it doesn't even look like an amp to thief //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

but wiring it before mounting can bring trouble sometime //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. My only complain

1200 will be fine plenty for those subs.
