Power Problem

I am in the process of connecting my stuff that i have newly aquired. After hooking my usx-4085, new headunit and the kicker c12 amp together i though i might give it a test run. I inseted the keys into the car (keys in but b4 starting position) and i played around with the amp and HU. After like 15 min of play i had to go out and get something from the store. When i tried to start the car, i noticed that the car had difficulty starting. It took way longer than usual to start and didnt sound right (starter).

My mian question is this normal. Is this because i played around without having the car fully on. Will i likely have more problems when i hook up my front speakers to the amp. Do i need a new battery ?

Your starter may just be going out, but it sounds like you need to throw a charger on the batt to me.

Why is it b4 the amplifier installation, the car operated fine with no problems or issues. Can the battery be dead, it might be old ?

i dotn think it's the alt. i mt hinkin ur bat is old (how old is it). it seems like it drained your bat pretty well, and for only 15 mins with just that it shoudlnt' do dat if the bat is fine.

i see how some ppl could say da alt, but it will prob be an old bat. a good bat would be an optima red top, you can get them at pep boys, if you are in northridge, the closest pepboy might be either in devonshire and zelzah, or you gotta go to van nuys.

=), i know cuz i live there too, not at the moment tho.

Well thanks for the advice and probable diagnosis.

But at this moment i dont have a lot of money to spend on a new expensive battery. Is ther a cheaper battery that would work fine. The reason i say this is i know that red/yellow top batteries are around150$. What about like costco/sears/walmart batteries--anygood.

yeah they would be good. just get one with prob a higher amp output than the stock one. u'll c. i had to get a new one not long ago cuz of something else, n i paid like $56 for a Duralast bat at autozone, and free replacement lifetime if anything happens. of course anythign that's not ur fault.

i thought that the red top was like in the $70-90 range in pepboys, unless i dont remember correctly.

correction, dat's chatsworth n zelzah maybe, but not sure if ther'es one in there
