Power Problem? Alternators?

I have a 98 stratus just installed an ESX 400.1 ESX 175.2 Brahma 12" ported. With a pioneer deck volume around say 20 and above. My lights stat to dim everytime the sub hits. the higher the volume the worse it gets. I am still using the stock alternator. Is there a web site ian go to to get a better alternator to replace the one I have? or am I better off to get my rewound. Oh the amp is bridged mono, and would this power problem cause the amp to heat up quickly and start fading out?

What size power wire are u running, and yes u should get a bigger alt

4 gauge was run for the system. Professional install. Is there a link to where I can find the more powerful alternators?

From what you explained you don't have a alternator problem you have a spontaneous load problem. basically if ya car doesn't cut off while driving it's not the alternator. There may be other cases but in yours (from what ya said.) should be cool. for every 1000 watts 1 farad is fine. If ya don't have one get it. Even if it doesn't help, your subs will still hit harder. Cause alts only supply voltage to the circuit not ya amps.

So you're running 600 watts or so? Even up to around 1000 you should be able to run on your stock alt and battery without any significant upgrades. I think you should check the ground point and make sure it's grounded well. Also check all the terminals in the power line - give the wires a tug to make sure the crimps are tight. Just because you paid to have it done doesn't mean they didn't get in a hurry.
