power output

Okay i have heard different opinions on this and im trying to get a solid answer.

I have 2 Re audio se-x subs they are 600 watts rms. Ive been told 2 stories about how to power them. First. I'm told a 600 watt amp will power them both with 600 equally. Then I'm told i need 1200 and divide. watts by the. amount of subs i have, both to me could make sense however i need to know who's blowing smoke so i can wire and power according.

Also, what size speaker wire should i use to be efficient, 8 or 12 is what i have. Thanks!

If they are both 600w rms, then you would want 1200w rms for 2 of them. I always say go big or go home when it comes to wiring, but if you aren't running low impedance you can get away with smaller. I always run 8 or 10 gauge in and out of my enclosures...

I am running at 1ohm.

I can see where people woult say both subs would get 600 on a 600rms x1 amp due to its only 1 circuit and the same power is disipated throughout the circuit evenly .... or so thats a theory.

Is there a real way to check to be certain?

basic electrical trheory answers the question. In a Parallel circuit voltage is equal across all points in circuit. If you run in series then would need 1200 watts because the power would drop at each sub.

Yes, it definitely matters HOW you wire them, (you did not specify) just keep in mind running anything @ 1 ohm puts a massive strain on your vehicle's electrical system, so be sure to do the big 3, and at the least a run of 0 gauge to supply your amp. Being that you intend on running 1 ohm, I would definitely use 8 gauge wire for your speakers as well...

Two subs at 600W each is 1200 W total. For certain.

They are wired parallel as they are. Dual 4ohm. Im doing big 3 This weekend.

So in cicuitry theory my amp is rated at 1200 rms @ 1ohm being that they are parallel they both are getting 1200 watts, right? Or just 600 that's my dilemma.

As for the speaker wire. Im going to run 8ga with bolts and ring terminals on the box instead of speaker terminals to ensure my box stays sealed the best it can. Those plastic terminals are garbage.

Yeah a 1200 watt or bigger amp a 1200 watt amp will do if u go with a good brand amp that actually pushes more then the rating

I have a **** amp... 3000 boss. I got it free so no complaints. It supposed to do 1200 @1. Im getting 9oo but once i go big 3 it should go up a lil. However im going to buy the aq1500.1

look at the fuse on that boss to see if how many watts you are actually getting 30a about 300watts 2x30 600watts etc... AQ is good but for the money you can get an apsm 1500 for $125 or an apsm 2000 for under $200 brand new just throwing it out there

Idk, my re subs are pretty loud with it...i get window and roof flex. If that's the case id love to see it with real power.

Speaking of , i was looking at the bd1500 , i know Rockford amps are underrated but is it worth the 500 price tag.

Can u give me some that are. Good amps that will put out rayed power at least 1200 watts for 500 or less and dont say apsm bc they are overrated too
