power on then off?

so due to a long story i lost my passenger tweeter a few months back. i was at school and didnt have time or money to fix it. finally put in a few tweeter today and hooked my JL 300/2 back up. When i turn on my stereo the power light comes on for about 1 second, during which the front components still do not play, and then turns off. I pulled my HU out and checked all the RCA's and all the cables connected to the amp and couldnt find anything wrong. My local audio shop is closed on sundays so i couldnt get it benched. Was wondering if i could learn anything by asking before spending the money to have it benched

MPT came over to my house for the re-install the other day. Here are the details:

2gauge power and ground. Ground seems solid (could be problem?)

RCAs are good to go.

Here is what happens:

System turned on with the Remote wire attached; the Power light comes on but only stays on for approx 8-10 seconds, then fades out. No sound.

System turned on WITHOUT remote wire attached: Nothing comes on... attached Remote wire... power light comes on for 8-10 secs, then fades. no sound.

I could not locate a short in the power or ground. RCAs shouldn't affect this...

Anything else to look for here?
