I just purchase my directed 1500d from ikesound (really fast shipping i might add) i was wonder what gauge power wire i would need for it. it will be running 1100 watts @ 1 ohm. would welding wire make a big difference in the size i would need? what would be the best and where can i get it the cheapest. thanks.

it is not to far. it is in a vw jetta. i'm guessing it should be less than 12 feet. i was looking at 2 gauge welding wire and it looks huge. i heard that welding wire has a true guage size.

The amp has 90A total of fuse. If thats the only amp in the car 4 gauge is fine. If you add another amp, I would consider larger or over sized 4 gauge...I may know a place to get that from.. ;p

yeah it is about 12 feet or so because the battery is by the firewall and the amp is right behind the backseat. if not 12 feet then not much more.

i looked up the welding wire but wouldnt 4 gauge be fine.

1 guage is good for 250a for 50ft,2 gauge is good for 200a for 50ft,1/0 is 350a for 50ft so wouldnt 4 gauge at 25 be more then enough for 1 amp thats 90a max?

i was gonna do 1/0 but isnt that killing a fly with a mack truck when a civic would be fine?
