Hi folks,
Been scouring the internet but could not find a satisfactory answer for my dilemma. I have a 97 Nissan Maxima with a power antenna. The motor is fine but the mast is broken and I need to replace it. I have already disassembled the motor housing and fished out the broken end of the plastic gear strip. The problem is the mast part of it. I see that the outermost metal tube runs all the way down into the motor housing and I may be wrong but it appears to be well attached at the bottom. So I would assume that stays put while the replacement mast slips down inside of that. The issue is I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the old broken mast from inside the outer tube so that I can replace it. As you can see by the picture I have mangled the old mast quite a bit in my attempts to remove it with locking pliers. I am finding that the pliers, no matter how tight I make them, keep slipping off the inside mast. Anyone with experience or advice who wants to respond to this it would be most appreciated.
thanks so much,
Mark
