I can get one of these for $200 on ebay, and i am highly considering it. One review says this will power an HCCA. The specs also are promising.

RMS Power Rating:

4 ohms: 1700 watts x 1 chan.

2 ohms: 2500 watts x 1 chan.

1 ohm: 3200 watts x 1 chan.

Also has 5 40A fuses.

Has anybody experience of opinions on this? The gothic series looks real nice for the price.

This will be powered 2 12" Clarion SW1251's, 700W rms total, 1600W peak total. 2-ohms final load

I personally have had good luck with some of the power acoustik mono blocks and their various clones. You can probably find an amp that fits your needs better for the money you are going to spend but if you don't expect rated power out of the power acoustik and you run it properly it will probably do what you need it to.

Power Acoustik is in the bottom tier of brands under Epsilon Group. Other brands in the family include Fahrenheit, Precision Power, and Soundstream. I wouldn't run a 1,700W RMS amp on those Clarion subs. It would be far too easy to overpower them and slowly fry the voice coils. They're a good subwoofer but every subwoofer has limits.

Cant i turn the gains down and such to prevent this?

I plan to get this to hold off for future upgrades until i get in the range of competition grade, like the HCCA-154 i have planned.

This is replacing a Lanzar MXA 284 (or a Sony Xplod 1000W if all goes well), so its a major improvement

Hmm, I wonder if this would be a good match for my DD9512 D4 ran at 2ohms until I get another one, then it would be a good fit for my 2 DDs. Wish I had seen it before I just bought my **** Orion 2500d. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Turning down the gain on an oversized amp doesn't guarantee it won't overpower the subs. The gain setting isn't a volume control or a "watts" dial. You're looking at an amp that can vastly overpower your current subs. You'll probably buy the amp anyway, but I'm telling you what to expect.
