Power Acoustik Mofo-15?

are these subs any good?
they look alright.

I was considering using cheap 12inch subs, but found these 15's (In America ofcourse) for what I consider a reasonable price (although shipping will probably kill it)

anyway, what are peoples opinions of them?

thanks!
What ever you do do not buy those subs, looks mean nothing. They will get kinda loud, but sound like a freight train going down the tracks at 80MPH.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

mofos are great subwoofers IMO i wouldnt reccomend it for suvs but for cars they are perfect they dont sound bad

Yeah I guess in a trunk application it doesnt really matter that they sound like ***.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

why not use the 9500 in your ava?mofo's get decently loud but sound like *** in the process
I have two 9510's, but dont go there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

maybe I should consider woofers that are available locally.

and, in my opinion, how a woofer sounds, is about 90% install, and 10% woofer.

Most people on these forums are going to say they sound like crap. But in reality no one has actually ran these subs in their vehicle or they heard them in a poor enclosure. Most people have never even heard them at all and are just following the bandwagon. They read somewere that someone said they sounded like crap and they go with it and tell everyone else the same thing. I've ran mine for over 2 years and love them. Every single person that has sat in my car says they are extremely loud and sound very good, including a few competitors and professional installers that have heard many setups. Most think I have at least 4 or more subs back there. My setup in not geared for the meter whatsoever. It's tuned low and not postioned in my vehicle to do really good. And I still managed to hit a 143.XX the very first time I metered it on the New Termlab. That was without any tuning and only putting around 500-600 watts per sub! They will handle tons of power. There's a guy on here that burps his single 15" with 3K Watts and no problems. They're no $900 JL Audio SQ sub, but they are killer for the price.

x2.Great bang for your buck sub.

I had a mofo-15; It was violent, and extremely heavy. Seriously. It was a heavy b!tch.

It got loud, and rattled the shit out of my Audi; But wasn't especially musical in a 3.5'^2 @ 33hz. Don't recall the port info.

I suspect it of taking my Brutus amp out, also, but I couldn't be sure. The amp might've just sucked.

Actually the amp definitely sucked.

Anyway, the MOFO is long gone, good riddance.

i owned a mofo and have the opinion that they sound like ***. they were missing any note below 40 hz. i had it in a box tuned to like 36-38 and it peaked at 52 hz, and only hit a 135.

then it blew a set of tinsel leads when we had it on my herc. we then "tested" it on a massive 3000 with the one coil going to the amp at 2 ohms. lets just say, we wouldn't have gotten a meterable burp out of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i agree, most people who comment on this sub simply spit out what they here from other "non-users"... if you haven't used the sub, don't comment unless noted "I have heard..." etc.

I HAVE HEARD that this sub sounds bad for music but can get incredibly loud. From what I have read, I wouldn't compare it to your DD or BTL as far as power handling and build quality, but i'm sure it will do fine if you don't plan to abuse it.

I build several boxes for 15" Mofos and installed them in 3 different vehicles with a friend of mine (all his installs). They were very loud, but not incredibly so without alot of power... they are very stiff speakers. Coils are strong but the glue needs alot of work... he went through three sets of 15" MOFOs due to glue joint failure in the course of a year.

And the sound? I've heard alot worse... but I would not consider them to sound good by any means. Are the listenable? Sure they are. Do they sound good? No.
