Powder coating?

I have a set of 17" Momo rims, nice *** rims but the previous owner abused them... idiot. They have scuffs from hitting curbs a few good welts and the original powder coat finish is coming off, or maybe its paint now sure..

anyways

Wanted to know if anyone had any experience with powder coating? Cost wise?

There is a place i just looked up thats like 4 buildings down from my work that does it, but they are closed right now.

Would it cut back on cost if i did most of the prep work myself? Remove tires and sand them down? Or would you suggest just letting them do it all?

Any ideas on how much something like this would cost?

powdercoating isnt that expensive at all,,,, imo... but definantly sand it down yourself.... do all the work so that all they have to do is PC.... or they will charge you tons.... thanks your welcome

Powdercoating is cheap...got all 4 of my wheels stripped/coated for 171.80 CAD. Check my CarDomain site for pics of them after they got finished.

Also, take the tires off before you take them in, and let them do the prep work, and be very careful with the tire machine when remounting your tires...

Umm it must have not been Powdercoating, because i believe powdercoating doesnt come off.

Correct me if im wrong

Powdercoating will come off...It's relatively tough but not invincible...one of mine flipped off the tire machine while at work (long story, used rags to try and not scratch the wheels, ended up not holding the wheel and off it went) and it landed on the floor, cracked a good little chunk off of the outside bead. Nothing major, but it can be chipped/cracked.
