Pow Pow

well I don't hate on 9mm it's what I carry but I won't carry target rounds or fmj's I prefer golden saber Hp's loaded at +p+ so that even if it's a poor shot it's going to inflict massive damage to what it hit's hopefully slowing the attacker enough to line up a better placed follow up shot.
agreed, everything comes down to how well placed that first shot is. There is a reason why none of us carry single shot pistols lol

there is a reason that the military/police are dumping 9mm & .40 and getting .45's.
yeah... "the more bad ass" effect. bigger is always better right?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

while your following your shots up the other guy can still be shooting back that's when stopping power comes into play. the people that are getting shot at for a living are going with .45's now because of that reason.

better hope they hit the vitals on first shot then, unfortunately thats not always the case. Id go with a double tap well placed to the chest with a 9 over a .45 that may or may not miss vitals and the second shot hitting arm leg etc, or even missing. idk thats just me though everyone has there opinions. I know forsure i would be much more confident in well placing a double or trip with a 9mm then getting a 2nd or third accurate off with the .45 like i said though just my opinion we all have preferences lol.

exactly"bad ass " lol well placed shot center mass, the threat wont tell a difference between the 3
Yes....a WELL placed shot, center mass.......woken up at 3am, from a dead sleep....and...less than 2 seconds to id the threat(no friendlies...) and aim that well placed center mass shot in the dark....and hoping the threat can not return fire...all while you and the threat are moving...

Ball ammo makes the odds in even more favor of the threat. At least hp/defense loads lower that favor by a long shot.

I would think that someone would want the odds in their favor as much as could possibly be.....

Not a chance that I am willing to make, no matter how good I am with shot placement under extreme conditions, over a few cents of cost of ammo...

a 9mm with hallow point rounds will be much more effective then a full metal jacket .45 will be at self defense.

that being said, shoot what you want to shoot. The stupid arguments about caliber size are as moronic as the gm/ford debate.

Better hope you hit the vitals 100% of the time with a 9mm with ball ammo......

Even with .45 ball ammo, if you do miss the vitals, you still have 3x the stopping power...

And on that well placed shot.....

9mm ball at best will exit with a 10mm hole on a human....9mm hp/frangible can expand up to 2x its size...

Miss the heart by 2mm and the threat can/may still continue......miss it with the hp/frangible my 2mm and your chances of a stop are 10x....

That being said, I carry a glock 26. My back up gun is a walther ppk/s loaded with these. .380 Auto, 68 gr, ME - Lehigh Defense, LLC
Nice choices....

My argument is the OP's statement about target/ball for defense. We all know that for defense, we want stopping power.

Ball ammo will just not deposit enough energy into the target where as ammo designed for defense will.

And on a side note...

I carry a Springfield Ultra Compact Fully Loaded 1911. I use Ranger SXT's in this one.

Back up is a ( just aquired) Ruger LCP in .380. I have been using the Win. Supreme Elite 95gr bonded but I shall give your suggestion a try.
