possibly getting my bro's jl amps. got questions.

300/4 and 500/1. they make the same wattage @ 4 or 2 ohms so if i use the 300/4 bridged for my front stage , should i get 8 ohm drivers instead of 4 ohm? i notice they run considerably warmer at low ohms , and since 8 ohms bridged is the same as 4 ohm stereo it shouldnt make a difference in power just less heat and thd which is good , right?

I'd say get whatever works best for your install and go forward with life. The advantage to the JL Audio Slash series amplifiers is their RIPS circuitry. Oddly, the disadvantage of the Slash series is their RIPS circuitry. The 500/1 is the only class d amplifier I ever owned and subsequently sold that had class ab type efficiency.

Having power be transferred through voltage more so than current is always more efficient. If you're confident that your amplifier will give you enough power, then yes, 8 ohms is better. It is slight, though.

well the jl amps are rated 75x4 @ 4 ohms or 75x4 @ 2 ohms , so i figured 150x2 bridged would be achievable at 8 ohm or 4 ohm load.
