I have an Arc kar 400.4 for my speakers, I drilled a hole in the bottom of the trunk and sanded around the hole to use as my ground.

At first there used to a pretty bad whine which got louder as RPM's increased.

After a period of time, the whine went away.

Now, last week, I observed where I grounded the amp, and there was soooo much rust around the hole!!! So I cleaned that up, and guess what? The whine is back!!!!!...just like it was at first.

what do I do?

How big did you drill this hole? I think it may be you have some sort of leak (the hole allowing water in) and thats where the rust is coming from.
