possible blown subs?

hey guys my subs - 4 sa-8s quit working today so i pulled the first one out to check the coils...and im not sure if my dmm is broke or what but one coil does nothing and the other coil shows like 77.3....so i took the next sub out and got nothing from either coil...they move freely with no scratching or rough spots...from what i can see through the basket vents the coils look brand new..no heat discoloring or no burnt smell....checked the leads and they all seem to still be attached...any other things to check or guesses??...i dont push my subs hard and they dont see dirty power and have never smelt burnt coils..however i was at the sand dunes all weekend and there is sand on in and around the box....

77.3? wtf? lol check your amp bro i dont think 4 subs would suddently quit working all at the same time out of nowhere.

amp seems fine..checked the outputs and there fine....

this time is 12.2 but i can hook it up again and it is 140.xx or anywhere in between

Looks like the coil or tinsel lead wires went bad. All 4 subs went out at the same time seems weird though but it could happen I guess.

sounds like there blown. and how they all go is 1 blows dont notice too much diff cause it is still acting like a passive radior. now the rest of the sub see way too much power and too big of a box.

If they aren't reading correctly the tinsel leads are blown (can be under the tie down threads so you can't see it) -- it's pretty much unheard of for a coil to go out on an SA-8 -- you will NOT smell the coils on them so that is not a good judge of the driver being pushed or not.

Don't laugh, but I had a set of MTX subs that did something similar. I noticed one of them wasn't following the bass quite like the other (looked out of phase). Turned out one was blown and acting as a passive radiator. There was only a slight change in volume, but the power handling went down which tipped me off. (started to distort easier)
