Possible Blown Speaker?

A while ago I got a set of cdt cl61as and an orion 4002. A friend of mine said he'd install everything for me so I let him and he ended up frying the amp. I then just had the speakers hooked up to my HU and a few weeks after that they started cracking whenever the beat would hit. I have a pioneer 4800 and whenever I turn it up over 27 it starts to crackle. I talked to the guys at my car audio place and they said(without seeing or hearing it) that my speakers are probably blown, but I don't get how they could be unless it was because of something that happened when the amp blew. I don't know, let me know what you guys think, I have a decent knowledge of car audio products but don't know anything about putting them in. I just don't want to have to buy more components. Give me your opinions please

Thats what I'm thinking of doing. Does anyone know if they could just fix it and charge me for it (thats if they didn't want to cover it under the warranty) so I don't have to buy new speakers?
