Possible blown amp?

OK I been using my Kicker KX1200.1 for alittle over a year until I recently sold it to a friend. He took it to Curcuit City for the install and the guy who did the install said it smelled burnt out at the vents, now the amp does have a smell to it but it always did. I know I never clipped it not once because the Audiocontrol LOC that I have tells me if the HU is sending a clipped signal and I never went over half gain. So he hooked it up and the CC installer told my friend the amp powers up but it doesn't have any output or something like that. The last time I played the system it hit just as hard as it ever did. Also the instruction manual says the KX1200 requires 1/0 wire and they used some 4 guage wire that isn't really even 4 gauge. So...I wanted to know what you guys think? I'm gonna take it to a shop by my house in the morning to have the amp tested for $5.

idk why dont you test it your self like in a different car WELL actually this just recently happened to my friend he had a hifonics brutus amp and it would power on in protect for a sec then go off but the light would still stay on and we cracked the case open and tapped the relay and it started working but keep cutting off then we found out it had a crack in the board but if it was shipped or somethin the relay(if it has one) could have got scrambled up from the static of shippin

I would just test it in my car but I took everything out including the wires.

Hmmm, crap like that makes me really appreciate local sells. Have your stuff working properly, customer views it. Customer agrees that it works fines and buys it. 2 weeks later you get the call saying something blew in the amp (OR whatever), you reply "It was working fine when I had it," "What did YOU do?"

The bad thing about it is that I sold it locally I knew I should have let him hear everything while it was still installed but me being a dumbass said what can go wrong? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/pissed.gif.9f665f96bc89e98e708dabd4580bb591.gif Well I'll let the local shop check out, at the worst I'll just ebay it as is and just state whats wrong.
