Posative terminal melting on sub box, why?

im using an alpine 500W amp and an alpine type s 12" sub lately ive been noticing a melting plastic smell but when i inspect the wires everything looked ok. i checked again (after a few months) and noticed that the positive terminal on the sub box was melting into the box, the negative was fine and the wires were cool to the touch, the positive terminal was very hot though, too hot to touch. what can i do to correct this? thinker gauge wires from the amp to the box? any help is appreciated. thanks in advance!

Make sure you have good connection
yea, i just went out and took it all apart, the terminal was 90% melted threw the plastic on the back so i just popped it off and bridged the connection without it, i played it at my highest listening volume for about 20 mins and it was still cool so i think that solved it. now my only problem is the hole in my sealed box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif it sounded the same though. guess its time to start looking for a better sealed box.

You should get an amp meter and put around that positive wire to see if you have extra current jumping into the wire from somewhere. Also what gauge wire are you using? Should be using 10 or 12 gauge...most likely 10.
