Ports: PVC vs. Flared Port Tube type

so im thinking about trying my hand at using one of these two types of ports.

i know pvc can be had locally , but the precision ports ( http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=268-350 ) look alot nicer.

ive seen this article ( http://www.speakerbuilder.net/web_files/Articles/porttut/porttut.htm ) and it seems like thatd be the best way to use pvc , except its not flared on its ***-end.

would that make much of a difference? port noise?

also , the pvc thats available at home depot , do they measure by inside diameter , or OD when they say 3"? noob question , i know , i just havnt been up there in some time , let alone measured PVC in forever.

That second one is a pretty good idea and really makes it seemless (especially if you painted it really nice...it'd flow nicely)...and for the other end of the port you can heat up a small bowl or something similar and press it into the end of the port to flare it out...then you'd have both ends flared for much cheaper and the outside would look pretty good (Id be sure to paint the inside of the port too just for looks as well)

If you wanna try it on your own the pvp like option two is pretty good. Or you could go this way too. I'm going to try the flush one like you have up there.

great idea , i may have to try that out sometime in the future. but it seems to be too much work for my lazy *** atm.
