hey i have 2 1000 watt volfenhag subs, a KAC-7202 amp, and a small dual 12" sub enclosure. taking the subs out today and fiddling with the wiring i noticed that out of the case the sub seemed more powerful and pounded a little harder. the enclosure i have is sealed so i was thinking if i should port it. would this be ok with such a small enclosure?

here a pic

the two subs are seperated in the middle, so if i were to port it i would port both sides. i want to do this but need your advice first.THX!

BTW- these are in the back of my 1995 jeep wrangler

only chance you have of porting an enclosure like that is external aeroports.

and even so...that box probably isnt anywhere near ported specs for those subs. for example that sub might need 1.5 cubes sealed and 3 cubes ported plus the port displacement.

edit: forgot to add...dont do it.

Step 1 - Drill 8 1/2" diameter holes in each side of the box. Make sure they face to the sides so the noise doesn't cancel itself out.

Step 2 - Now throw the box away because you just ruined it.

Step 3 - Now build a new ported box to specs. Get the Thiele Small parameters of your subs and use WinISD to calculate the proper box size, port area, and port length. Or have someone else design it for you, there are people on here who will do that for you.
