porting? is there a formula?

anyone be able to give me something like a formula to tuning boxes. like how i would figure in the lenght,width,height, and sub freq. to come up with a port size, or length. if u need specs, say a box for my MTX 5500 thunder sub. 6.7 mount depth, and a box width 14 1/4, length 20 1/2, height 14 inches. total of around cubic ft. and 38 Hz reccomended tuning. (that internal volume, not including the 3/4 wood)

There is no formula ...

sure everyone just takes a guess at it then uh

the jl audio site has the formula and and you can even find websites with a calc that will figure it for you but there not alway very acuarate so you should try

JL Audio has a lot of good tutorials. if you are new at anything they most likely have information for ya.
