Ported Wierd Design

It's only about 7" deep at the bottom and then gets thin real fast. How would you go about porting this? Odd shaped slot port of PVC with an elbow right away?

Any ideas?

You could use a 90* bend for the port opening and then extend it down as far as you need. Or port out of the side.

Is there no problem mounting the speaker in that box due to it's height? Also for 2 speakers is it the correct volume?

I currently have it built but not as wide as shown in the picture. It's sealed currently and should be enough volume. I dunno if I'm going to be able to get enough port length to make it worthwhile but I'd like to give it a shot anyways.

PVC should be the easiest though right?

Yep. You just have to cut out a hole the diameter or the PVC used. Simple. Remember adding a port will decrease the NET volume of the enclosure.

I built a box like that for a single cab s10, i made a port on the size going in... 2ft^3 tuned to like 36... sounded good.

This is for an Explorer Sport Trac. Goes behind the rear seats. Not much room to work with though.

hmm. once you take into account wood displacement (3/4" from each side ) your box will be quite a bit smaller. are you sure there is going to be enough mounting depth for your subs?

what i would do is either learn how to bend pvc pipe or as you suggested put a 90 degree bend in it, or i would just port it out the side

Porting out the side would put it into the wall of the cab.

Porting it forward puts it into the back of the seat. (should be better then the metal wall though)

There is enough room for the subs (picture isnt' to scale) but they do JUST barely fit. Like I said I have them in a similar box but it's sealed. I plan to make this one wider and try to port it. If it sucks I won't use it. Not that worried about it.

Don't port it if the port is going to be that close to a seat or wall.

I hear you on that one. This is the same vehicle that I have.

In looking at it I might be able to slot port it under the seat. Would it effect anything to have the port be odd shaped and get larger as it gets closer to the exit?

it will effent everything if not done right, but remember, areo ports flare like what you are saying too.
