Not sure why it would sound weird considering that the guy above supergumby did something like that and if u havent seen them the vids are impressing
Yeah but his is a clamshell I believe, which involves a design. Not just putting subs on each side and firing them towards each other and expecting good results. I'm sure 80 or iamamp3pimp can design you one.

you dont really seem to know what you're talking about.

there is very little involved in designing a clamshell, most people just simply make them, and they work perfectly fine!

the angles are going to make very little difference, there may be an optimal angle, but other angles won't have any horrible effects to the sound quality.

But what if it turns out sounding terrible? There's a guy over on SMD with a blowthrough with 8-12s that has them firing into a center section. He didn't take the size/length of it into account when designing and he said it won't play for crap above 35hz. I agree that I know nothing about clamshells but you can't just throw something together without planning and expect good results.

if the space between the woofers is too big, or too long, then yes, it could have negative effects... or if the cut out the woofers are firing through is too small..

So explain to me how that is any different from what I said? He CLEARLY needs a design so he doesn't end up with a center chamber that is too long or too wide. If he were to just throw something together he could end up with that situation.

but its not going to be too long, or too wide, because other people have already done a similar thing with four 15's!

he wouldn't be making the clamshell any bigger than it had to be, now would he?

Well you seem to have this under control so why don't you offer him some help?

Theres is no way a ported clamshell is happening with a 20-25" cutout. Only way is to make the cutout a port in which case it wouldnt be ported, it would be a 6th order.
actualy wouldnt that be an 8 th order /ported into larger then larger ported out?

either way this thread is pointless

edit ok not quite an 8th order but close

I can do 25" wide but like I said the less the best far as teh cutout. I just dont want a full cab cutout. I figure 25" wide and 15-18" high should give me enough to work with idk we will see.
just do this
